4K this week

Thursday 20th September | 2 comments

Hi all,

We have been working hard this week in 4K in Literacy, learning about a Shirt Machine that creates fun and magic shirts. The children imagined and sketched different parts of the machine. Here are some of their fantastic designs. I have been really impressed by their creative writing and imagination.

In maths we have been working on place value with 4 digit numbers. The children have enjoyed and persevered when solving problems such as:

My number has a 3 in the tens column.

The hundreds digit is 3 more than the ones digit.

The digits add up to 14. What could the number be?

They have partitioned four digit numbers and placed them on a number line.

In Science we investigated the impact of humans on the environment and had a great discussion about rubbishy, pollution and global warming. The children started their electricity topic, building a variety of circuits.

We begun our DT topic by disassembling some electronic games. We looked at steady hand games, quiz machines and operation. We will be planning and building our games soon . The children will need a shoe box so please save any shoe boxes that you have at home and send them in whenever you can.

This week we have sent home maths homework on place value.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Kroon

That’s great to hear. We had such a lovely chat about looking after the planet.
Today they will be doing more exciting circuit work.
