4C’s 1st week back in 2018.

Friday 5th January | Comments are off for this post

Hope you all had a wonderful two weeks off and a Happy New Year!

What a fabulous 1st week back it’s been! Short but fabulous!

In Literacy, we started our new topic entitled ‘Issues and Dilemmas’. We have been using the short Disney Pixar animation called ‘One Man Band’ to help us to understand what a dilemma is.

We focused looked at how emotions can change when a character is faced with a difficult situation. We then practised out dialogue writing skills, using stills from the animation as a stimulus. Next week, Guided Reading we will begin to read ‘Bill’s New Frock’ by Anne Fine to continue to explore this unit.

In Numeracy, we have been reviewing our work on multiplication and division, practising our written methods to try and make sure we have mastered them.

In Science, we began two new topics – ‘Classifying Animals’ and  ‘Food and Digestion’. We had a very interesting lesson, trying to explain what we thought happened to our food once it has entered the mouth! Hopefully, over the next few weeks, we will have a bit more scientific understanding to help make our definitions slightly more accurate!

In PE, we started a new half-term and I had a great session down at Farsley Cetlic teaching my group the first steps to playing Tchoukball. It is a great, high energy ball game and the group did a great job! Google it if you want to know more.

Well done for achieving a very respectable 86% in Extreme Learning this week and well done to both Wyatt and Kaydi for their Special Mention awards.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.

Mr Garlick
