This week, the children continued their science topic around the human digestive system. They drew around one of their friends then cut out and placed the various organs and parts into the correct place on the paper.(Pictures of organs, not the children’s organs!)

Also, as part of the digestion topic, plus linking to our PSHE healthy living focus, we talked about the importance of washing hands. We demonstrated this by one child on each table dipping their hand into a tub of glitter then shaking hands with their neighbour. The hand shake was then passed on and on leading to a very sparkly room. The children then learned how to wash their hands correctly to ensure that all the glitter (germs) were removed.

On Thursday, half of the year group were involved with skipping practice. This was in preparation for the skipping competition in March. The other half were able to be part of the national BBC 500 Word Story competition live lesson. Last year we had plenty of brilliant stories entered and some of them progressed to the second round of judging. Hopefully, this time we may have a finalist. Next week’s learning log will be to write a story suitable for entry but there is no need to wait. We will give details next week but, if you wish to check, the rules are on the BBC website. Stories can be emailed to your child’s class teacher who will submit them. (Children who missed the live lesson will be able to watch it next week)

Special mentions this week go to Zuhra, Imogen, Vaughn and Alexis. Well done!

Have a great weekend.

The Year 4 team.
