Welcome back

Welcome to Year 4.

The children have settled into their new year group very well this week and all look ready to start the exciting Year 4 curriculum.

We have done a short piece of writing this week in the form of a newspaper report about a holiday activity or trip. It was great to find out what everyone has been up to for the past few weeks. We also used a map in Geography when finding out which countries had been visited over the summer so that we could pinpoint their location in the world.

In maths, the children have learned how to write numbers up to 100 using Roman Numerals. We talked about why we still see them being used but also the drawbacks of the system.

In Science, our topic this half term is electricity and on Friday we talked about how appliances are powered, either through the mains or with a battery. The children then sorted household object using those criteria.

PE option letters have been sent home but just a reminder that in addition to the “dry” activities, the children will be also swimming next Wednesday and will require a swimming costume and a towel.

Special mentions this week went to James, Tyler, Jack and Isabel. Well done for a great first week!

Mr Beevers, Mrs Kroon and all of the Year 4 team.
